In 2023 we started our non-profit, the Mindful Care Foundation, to expand access of mental health care with psychoeducation. We held our first conference on July 29th, 2023. The focus of this conference was to highlight mental health and disparities within the African American community that often lead to barriers of treatment. In addition, we provided research, and solutions to help people of color access care for their mental health. For the reminder of the year, we hosted webinars to address coping with grief/loss and setting healthy goals to help improve mental health and overall wellness. On July 27, 2024, we held our second conference. This conference focused on the invisibility of mental health to help destigmatize seeking mental health treatment within marginalized communities. The events that we have had thus far has been free for the communities that we service.
